Gluten Free Bread
Gluten free bread has come a very long way since I went gluten free. Here is a round-up of some of the breads that I enjoy.
– Franz Bread: I found this bread after moving to Seattle. I typically buy it in the regular bread section of Safeway or in the natural section of Fred Meyer. This is my favorite bread to eat without toasting. The 7 grain is perfect for a Turkey and Cheese sandwich while we are out and about on a hike or long car ride.
– Udi’s Bread: This company has grown and grown very quick. I first found it in NYC a few years after going GF and for awhile it was the only bread I would eat. The downside to this bread is that the slices are on the smaller side and there is normally a big hole in each piece. It has gotten better, but the hole is still usually there. Udi’s has tons of other wonderful products but that is for another post.
– Genius Bread: This is the brand of bread that I primarily used when I lived in the UK. The slices are the same as a normal loaf of bread and it is good at room temperature or toasted. I wish that they would start importing to the USA.
– Whole Food Gluten Free Bakehouse: This is in the freezer section at Whole Foods. I have been enjoying the Light White Bread for my morning toast. It also makes a good Grilled Cheese. This bread is not great at room temperature.
